Poltergeist Phenomena Primer

Bryan Williams and Annalisa Ventola are pleased to present the 4th installment of our Public Parapsychology primer series.  This edition summarizes the current state of parapsychological research and perspectives on poltergeist phenomena. Topics such as case studies, experimental approaches to poltergeist phenomena, theoretical aspects, and the similarities between poltergeist and haunt cases are discussed and illustrated with examples from previously published case literature.

We hope that this crash course will help clarify misconceptions about what may be fact and what may be fiction when it comes to apparent poltergeist phenomena, and assist paranormal enthusiasts in their approaches to cases that they might come across and investigate.

Temperature Primer Now Available in PDF

Public Parapsychology's latest primer, Temperature in Haunting Experiences:
A Basic Primer for Paranormal Enthusiasts is now available as a downloadable pdf
for ease of printing and sharing. In this primer, we give a brief overview of what parapsychologists have learned so far about temperature in relation to haunting experiences, and provide some useful tips on how to properly collect and interpret temperature readings during field investigations. The primer can be used along with our previous one on magnetic fields (Williams, Ventola, & Wilson, 2007), which it is meant to supplement. Enjoy!

Haunting Primer PDF

Our three-part series on magnetic fields and haunting phenomena was very popular here at Public Parapsychology. In the series, we discussed the current scientific literature on geomagnetism, electromagnetism, and the relationship of these magnetic fields to haunting experiences. The discussion was followed by some tips on measuring magnetic fields and a valuable list of references for the interested researcher. The series has been combined into a single, downloadable pdf for ease of sharing and printing. We hope that this primer will be a useful guide to those undertaking their own investigations, and welcome your comments and suggestions for future articles.
